Belize Visas and Investing in Real Estate in Caye Caulker: Your Ultimate Guide

Navigating Belize: A Guide to Visas and Visa Requirements

Belize, with its turquoise ocean, lush rainforests, and vibrant culture, is a paradise for those seeking a new home, looking for a tropical escape, or wanting to invest in real estate in Caye Caulker.

You typically don’t need a Belize visa to invest in real estate in Caye Caulker, but if you consider moving to our beautiful island, one of the first steps you’ll need to take is understanding the visa requirements.

Belize offers several visa options, each designed to suit different purposes and circumstances. In this guide, we’ll explore the various types of visas currently available, their requirements, and the steps you should take to make your Belizean Caye Caulker dream a reality.

Visitor’s Permit and Long Stay Permit (Tourist Visa)

If you’re planning to visit Belize for a short vacation, depending on your nationality, you usually don’t need a visa. Belize allows most visitors to enter for up to 30 days without a visa. This period can be extended for additional 30 days by applying for a Visitors’ Permit Extension at the Immigration Department and paying the fee of currently $200 BZ / $100 US. The closest immigration department for Caye Caulker is a half-hour water taxi ride away, in San Pedro on Ambergris Caye.

A relatively new type of Tourist Visa is the Long Stay Permit, which eliminates the monthly visitor’s permit extension and allows for a stay not exceeding 6 months. The fee for the Long Stay Permit is currently $500 US per adult and $200 US per child.

A minimum income of $75,000 US for single applicants or $100,000 US for applicants with dependents is required to apply for this type of visa.

However, for Visitor’s Permit and Long Stay Permit alike, it’s crucial to check the entry requirements as they can change, and some nationalities may have different rules.

Residency Options: Making Caye Caulker Your New Home

If you want to purchase your island home and wish to stay in Belize for a more extended period or establish residency, there are a few visa options to consider:
